The short version
Press Play today. You get seven questions. Each question shows for three seconds, then you have twenty seconds to type one correct answer. If your answer is on the question's curated list, you score points based on how rare that answer is among players. At the end you see your score, the answer distributions, and a shareable emoji line.
What "correct" means
Every question has a fixed answer list. The list is generous about names and spellings but strict about category. For example, if the question asks for a country in Africa, a territory or a city does not count, while an island nation does. We normalize accents and punctuation, ignore leading articles, accept common aliases, and correct small typos. The result page always shows what your answer was counted as.
What "rare" means
Rarity is the share of players who chose the same accepted answer. It is calculated per question, not per player. An answer that is rare in one question might be common in another, because the answer lists and the crowd are different. On the first day of a question we blend in a small seed estimate so the distribution is not empty; as more players finish, the seed fades out and real answers take over.
One run, one ranking
You get one daily run per day. If you close the tab halfway through, the run waits for you; once the seventh question is answered, the daily game closes until midnight Eastern Time. The server enforces the timer, validates the answers, and records the result, so changing the browser clock or editing a displayed score does not change your entry.
Unlimited mode
Unlimited mode uses the extra pool and past daily puzzles. Choose categories, choose a set length, and play. It is not ranked and it does not alter daily rarity. Three free rounds per device per day; a one-time unlock removes the limit and removes ads for that device.
Reporting a missing answer
If you are confident that an answer is correct and it was not accepted, use the report link on the result page. Tell us the question and what you typed. Reports are grouped, checked against the source data, and can add the answer or an alias for future players. We do not retroactively change past scores.
Accessibility and comfort
The game works with a keyboard: type, press Enter, and the next question starts automatically. Animations are short and respect reduced-motion settings. There is no sound. On phones, the answer field and buttons stay above the keyboard, and the timer bar remains visible while you type.
